Earthquake!
...Or tremors. Amy and I awoke this morning to something that shook the whole house for a few seconds. It was around 5:30am. Before it happened I was awake in bed. I swear I heard something outside in the distance that just didn't seem right. It was a warm night upstairs so we had some windows open. We don't think it was a close flying plane because there was no loud engine noise. We thought maybe it was wind but it didn't feel windy or sound windy. Nothing in the house fell. It felt like a mild shaking.

Update:
There was an earthquake reported in southeastern Illinois about the same time:

JCOnline.com: The U.S. Geologic Survey reports that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 has struck the midwest.

...The earthquake was felt as far away as South Bend and Fort Wayne. It shook tall buildings in downtown Indianapolis.

We definitely felt it in our apartment!

That's odd. We didn't feel anything. But then again, Ruby woke up at almost that exact time. Maybe she felt it ( :
