WeeRide Centric Mount Child Seat
Spring is here and we are all anxious to get out of the house. Alex loves going outside and playing in the yard.
I've been looking forward to the warm weather. We've been taking walks with Alex in tow in his wagon he got for Christmas. But what I've really been looking forward to is getting a child bicycle seat.
After looking at the different options, Amy and I came across the WeeRide Centric Mount Child Seat. It's pretty cool. Instead of mounting in the back, behind whoever is riding the bike, this seat mounts in the front. We were a little skeptical about it at first. We weren't sure how it would feel to ride comfortably. Amy thought we'd need to bow our legs out so we wouldn't be bumping into the seat. But, after trying it, that wasn't the case at all. It really didn't feel any different than riding without the seat and our little guy as a passenger. We can now ride with Alex in front and point things out to him. Take a look at this video for Alex's first time on a bike!
There is a little back story to how we got the seat. We originally thought this seat was only available online. We found it the cheapest at Target.com. It was roughly $70.00 (including tax and S&H). So, I ordered it and a few days later it arrived. Meanwhile, Amy mentioned the seat to a friend. Her friend said she saw the same seat at Meijer!
ARRAGH!
We didn't think to look there. Actually, a couple weeks ago, Alex and I were there and I quickly went through the bike section just to see if they sold seats. But, this was before I ever saw the WeeRide so it didn't stand out to me. (BTW I didn't really see any bike seats at Meijer).
So we were at the Meijer closest to our house and sure enough, we saw it there for $57.00. Close to the base price online but no S&H. So, we decided we weren't going to stress out about it and just remember that we learned a lesson to check the stores before we buy online.
Well, the next day, we happened to be at another Meijer across town. I was walking near the bike section and out of the corner of my eye, I saw the WeeRide. But this one had a big orange sticker on it marked: "50% off! You pay $36.00!"
OH SNAP!...I KNOW MEIJER DIDN"T!
(can you tell I've been watching too much 'That's so Raven?')
So I found Amy in the toy section and told her about it. Now we had no choice. We had to buy this and return the other one to Target. Luckilly we checked ahead of time and made sure we could return the seat to any Target store.
So, the icing on the cake? The day we were at Meijer was also 20% discount day on retail merchandise when you use your Meijer credit card. That's why we were there in the first place. And the result? We got the WeeRide for about $30...1/2 the base price! (~$60 online). We saved about $30 bucks!
Here is Alex wearing his new bike helmet. We got it at Wal*Mart. They had a better selection of helmets for toddlers < 4 years old than Meijer. Meijer's bike helmet selection is broke.

Amy - maybe you should put some parental controls on what Mike is watching. I believe the words "snap" and "broke" in sentences in which they do not belong indicate he may need a little guidance, although they made me choke on my ice tea.Angela Schabloski - Wed April 26, 2006, 12:00 pm
He looks great in his new helmet. It looks like dad had a rocky start on the bike. I hope you enjoyed your bike ride.2010 Mike and Amy Focosi
