Some Hoosier Fun
We never refer to ourselves as "Hoosiers" really, even though we're born and bred, but not from these here parts. Well, now I'm talkin' like I'm from down South!
Anyway, we spent about 8 fun-filled hours at Indiana Beach today. We had a GREAT time. The weather was absolutely perfect. I do not fare well in the heat, but today was high 70s with an occasional breeze--just right. Mike took the day off and his parents (Grandma and Papa) and Alex's cousins, Alaina and Nick, met us there. It was fairly reasonable since Wednesdays are Buy One, Get One free admission with a CVS receipt. We never had to wait in line for too long...many times we were able to hop right on a ride.
Mike and I were able to go off on our own for a little while. I have to say I used to think of myself as a roller coaster enthusiast. I grew up going to Six Flags Great America in Illinois (loved me the American Eagle!) and we always liked going to Cedar Point as well. However, after today, I can honestly say, I'm not a big fan of roller coasters anymore. Record screeches to a stop! I think this is the official sign that I am aging. I am old. I've never been a fan of spinning rides and that will never change. I did not enjoy the Scrambler and there was NO WAY I was going on the Tilt-a-Hurl. I think Mike almost puked during that one today.
Alex, overall, loves rides. The kiddie rides were no problem. He, regrettably, tried a couple of bigger rides today, specifically the Scrambler and the big pirate ship. Poor guy. He kept saying he was scared and "didn't like the hills" (on the Pirate ship) and I was feeling the same!!
There were no tears shed on this trip, which is major success!! Mike usually sheds at least a couple if he doesn't get to spend enough time at the arcade, haha.

The kids had a blast! Nick, much like his mom, is not one for rides even the tame hopper. Alex is adorable. The kids are so looking forward to spending a couple of days with you. I will talk to you soon.Lindsay - Thu July 24, 2008, 9:24 am
Firstly, I am so glad I did not have anything to drink in my mouth when I read the tears/Mike sentences. :) I literally laughed out loud, which caused Brittani to look at me in an odd manner.Secondly, you seriously have the cutest little boy in the whole wide world. (And I will continue to claim that until I have the cutest little boy in the whole wide world.) LOL! No, seriously, you know how much I love that little guy. I'm so glad he had a good time!
I'll be praying for you all this weekend! Love you!!
Hey, and Congratulations, Nonna and Grumpy!! :)

It does look like the kids had a blast (except Nick in Pix #7&8.) I'm with you on the spinning rides-no way! So glad the weather was perfect for you. I love Alex's muscle shirt. Dave says he looks all grown up. And Alaina's haircut is adorable! Can't wait to see you (and the girls tomorrow) - on your birthday!Lisa - Thu July 24, 2008, 3:42 am
Ha ha. Loved the photos. We were watching some commericals the other evening and they advertised a concert with The Hoosiers in the UK. Sree looked at me and said, isn't that? Yep, Indiana Hoosier is what they call us back home. And you'll be one too, when we move back.
The Hoosiers is a UK band that is very popular and plays decent music, I think.
I love roller coasters too but maybe it's the ones at Indiana Beach that aren't as good as Cedar Point. Once you've been on the best, it's just not the same.

ahhh Indiana Beach, that was great fun in my family growing up. We always went on the day you could get a band to ride all the rides for one price. There's more than corn in Indiana at Indiana beach!Emily - Wed July 23, 2008, 10:28 pm
Great photos. Thanks for sharing. One of the cousins in pic #8 looks like Noah M. from our church. It is uncanny. :)2008 Mike and Amy Focosi
